| 2DI was founded in 1999 to manufacture DataViewers! Atechnician needed a way to track the temperatures of his refrigerator andfreezer to prove to the Health Department that they were working properly. He knew about chart recorders, but they required constant maintenance, (replacingpaper charts and pens) and because they were mechanical with moving parts, they eventually wore out and broke down, not to mention the cost of all thosecharts. He didn't want dataloggersbecause they were too complicated for his employees to use. He wanted anelectronic instrument that was completely self-contained,reliable, easy to setup and use. In fact, he wanted something that any twelve-year-oldcould use. With these design criteria the ThermaViewer™ was designedand made. It did everything he wanted and then some. His employees, downto the fellow who sweeps the floor can and does use it. Everybody has becomepartof the quality assurance program. The ThermaViewer™ data is always visible on the large LCD display andcan be downloaded for long-term storage or to print out a paper record. TheThermaViewer™ initially used a digital probe to take temperature, whichworked well for refrigeration applications in the food industry, but wasn'taccurate enough for more demanding applications. New uses for the ThermaViewer™ quicklysurfaced. So they quickly added a thermistor, thermistor/RH, and a K-type thermocoupleprobe. Several different thermistor probes were created with accuracies of ±1C°, ±.2C°, ±.1C°,and even ±.05C°. Their customers are businesseslike laboratories, food manufacturing companies, warehouses, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, nursing homes, and trucking fleetswho must monitor and document temperature and/or humidity. They lovethe ThermaViewer™ becauseit is self-contained, stores months of temperature history, requiresno maintenance and cost less than the alternatives. They are located near Louisville, KY, the 16th largest city in the Uswhere they have access to the latest in manufacturing facilities andgreat engineeringtalent supplied by two major universities with outstanding engineeringschools. Louisville is also a major shipping hub so they can easilyand quickly shipto anywhere in the world. |
