During the early years of the television industry there were many manufactures of televisions, but few manufacturers of test instrumentation to diagnose and repair them. Central Service of Chicago, Illinois, became one of the largest service centers in the country.
They began developing their own test equipment to service and repair televisions. Other service organizations became aware of the availability of this test equipment and began ordering from Central Service. Noticing the industry's need for their equipment Central Service created B&K Precision in 1951.
