About LAP GmbH Laser ApplicationsLAP was founded in 1984 as an import company for laser components and rare optical items for industrial applications. It soon turned out that these products were not reliable enough for the intended use. To increase the reliability of the products LAP developed and manufactured protection housings, mechanical structures and rigid EMC proof electronic circuitry's as well as complete new laser gauges and devices.
From onset, all R & D activities were focused on designing laser devices to work under harsh industrial conditions. The heavy demands for their projects taught them to make LAP gauges stronger than the ones that were available at the time. LAP works jointly with customers to develop solutions for their specific demands. This successful designs and customer support philosophy has played a major role in LAP's continuous growth.
The company's engineering staff has grown because of the increased acceptance by their industrial clients for LAP products. A CAD department was set up to streamline customer support. A software department was created because customers needed control and visualization of measured values.
Their strict quality control procedures have received ISO 9001 accreditation. LAP is owned by its employees. Their highly qualified and motivated team provides the company with the capacity to supply long lasting, reliable systems that work anywhere in the world.

LAP produces three product lines: - Industrial lasers for alignment and positioning.
- Non-contact laser measurement systems. (Gauges and closed-loop systems)
- Medical laser systems for patient alignment in radiation oncology applications.
In 1997, their medical division started an US subsidiary in Boca Raton, Florida.
