| Namiki has been on the cutting edge of technological innovation since 1939, when they began producing synthetic sapphire jewel bearings for electrical measuring instruments. During the next 60 years, they've used their unique gem processing technology and extensive research capabilities to develop successful products in a number of diverse high-tech industries. Their expertise in manufacturing jewel bearings grew through the 1940's and 1950's into producing watch parts and sophisticated diamond stylus' for phonographs. In the early 1970's and 1980's, Namiki's precision diamond processing led to major advances in bioscience, semiconductors, coatings, and micron precision work on mechanical components.
Today, Namiki is a recognized leader in miniature diaphragm pumps, coreless motors and planetary gearheads, powerful rare earth magnets, micro fans, optical communications components, medical devices and more. Namiki's micromotors, magnets and specialty components can be found in electronics products you use everyday.
Research & Development
From the day their company established operations as a small factoryin 1939,creating a technological "World Standard" has been thecatalyst for their active research and development. It has alsobeen the main driving force in diversifying their product line, with the result that they often enter the world markets as a leader, not afollower. Namiki started producing outer parts for high-end watchesand record stylus, which evolved into manufacturing precision productssuch as miniature diaphragm pumps, magnetic tape heads, corelessmotors and optical isolators. They continue to intensify theirproduction efforts by using theirunique gem processing technology for breakthroughs in other high-techfields. By developing both unique materials and processing technology,Namiki has grown from its roots as a component manufacturer, tosubassemblies and now, to micro systems.
Manufacturing
It is essentialthat Namiki's customers can rely on the efficiency and productivityof their unique products. They guarantee this through superiormanufacturing technology. This begins at corporate headquarter level, where their manufacturing technology department oversees the development, design, production and maintenance of the manufacturing lines. Thedepartment's goal is the automation of all production lines, in additionto making improvements on existing in house production equipment.Currently, Namiki is working on automating the manufacturing process.Automating their precision processes on the micron level, while maintainingsuperior quality, is their most difficult challenge.
Quality Assurance
At Namiki theyinsist on "Perfect Quality" with no compromise. They have made "Perfect Quality 21" their slogan for totalquality assurance in the 21st Century. The building blocks of thisslogan at each factory are as follows: QC (Quality Control) circlemovement, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance Movement for EquipmentMaintenance), Proposal System in which individuals propose and tryout ideas for improvements and ISO (International Standard Organization)certification acquisition.
Namiki's Tokyo headquarters, Aomori, Akita and NPT factories are ISO9001and ISO14001 certified. These awards make a strong statement, reflectingtheir uncompromising level of quality. |
