Opticon is a privately held U.S. member of the Japan-based optoelectronics family of companies, providing bar code and auto ID solutions to the North and South American markets since 1984.

They are a developer, manufacturer and supplier of automated identification and data collection systems, using ISO 9002 certified manufacturing facilities to provide a wide range of products. Their products range in complexity from simple pen-style (wand) bar code scanners to intelligent, multi-technology handheld integrated laser terminals, offered by their Systems Solution Division. They also provide turnkey software for standard factory applications. Many of their products can be supplied with RF communication options.

Opticon serves many markets with a diversity of products. Their general usage handheld CCD (charged couple device) scanners and slot readers are found throughout the retail industry. Fixed position scanners serve industry and OEMs alike. Terminal products are found in warehouses, back rooms, and hospitals - wherever retention of data is paramount. You can also find their scanners along with ""partner"" products in material handling applications where they also provide software support.
