Company
Profile
Orange Research supplies affordable quality instruments for the measurement of differential pressure and flow. A patented magnetic movement senses fluid changes and isolates the fluids being measured from the gauge function.

The history of Orange Research is rooted in the great American tradition of free enterprise and entrepreneurial effort. Les Hoffman, the company's founder, and a former design engineer at Dresser-Ashcroft, conceived an idea for an instrument to compare differing pressures.

He had such faith in the concept that he decided to take the risk, leave his employment, and start a company to produce the product.

Thus, in 1968 Orange Research was born and the first instruments were assembled using the part-time help of neighbors in an old barn behind the Hoffman home in Orange, Connecticut.

The measurement of differential pressure can be applied to many applications ranging from indicating liquid levels to the flow of materials.

Interestingly, the original trade name applied to the product was ""Filter Fink"" to denote that the instrument, when attached to a filter, would tell the user when the filter was overloaded and needed to be cleaned or replaced. The trademark, for those of you who can recall it, was similar to that of the caped figure of the "Shadow" (he of radio fame).

Over the years since then, millions of differential pressure instruments have been sold. Customers continue to find them durable, reliable, and cost effective. And innovative applications still are being uncovered.

Along with the growth of customer demand has come the need for additional manufacturing and support space. The company has moved twice, settling into its present Milford location in 1980.

Flow Sensors
Flow measurement instruments are used to determine flow rate by monitoring the amount of media passing during a specific time. Devices within this category can monitor liquids, gases or solids, and measure in units of mass, velocity or volume.
Level Sensors
Devices used to detect or measure level of liquids, gases or solids, within pipes or tanks, or to detect the interfaces between different materials.
