Base Drive Description

Series 6RA70 SIMOREG DC MASTER base drive converters are complete drive assemblies ready to be installed and operated. They include a 3-phase armature converter, single-phase field converter, main contactor, protective semiconductor fuses, control power transformer, and power / control terminals.

Base drive converters are fully digital, compact units which supply the armature and field of variable speed DC drives with rated armature currents from 15A to 1660A. The motor field circuit can be supplied with DC currents of up to 40A (current levels depend on the armature rated current).

Overview

The ACS 550 is an adjustable frequency AC drive that achieves the ultimate in flexible motor control performance. Offering three modes of motor control: V/Hz, Sensorless Vector and Flux Vector, the ACS550 performs accurate' speed and torque control of any standard squirrel cage motor.

With drives ranging from 0.75 to 550 HP (0.55 to 355 kW), the ACS550 series features an 'intuitively obvious' multilingual, full graphic display panel that also provides an assistant to aid users in start-up. The control panel can be mounted on the cover of the drive, or remotely, and can upload, store, and download parameters.

The ACS550 comes equipped with an extensive library of preprogrammed application macros that, at the touch of a button, allow rapid configuration of inputs, outputs, and parameters for specific applications to maximize convenience and minimize start-up time.

The ACS550 can be used for the simplest to the most Demanding applications. Two integral option slots can be configured with additional relay outputs as well as a host of different communication bus adapters. An integral brake chopper is provided on all R1 and R2 frame size drives.

The ACS550 is available in both a Normal Duty Rating, and a Heavy Duty rating. The Normal Duty Rating has a 10% short term overload rating, and the Heavy Duty rating has a 50% short term overload rating for one (1) minute out of ten (10). Both ratings are capable of 180% of I2hd for 2 seconds out of each minute.

Overview
The ACS 800 is an adjustable frequency AC drive that achieves the ultimate in AC motor control performance. The second in a generation of AC drives to utilize Direct Torque Control (DTCTM), the ACS 800 performs accurate speed and torque control of any standard squirrel cage motor - without encoder or tachometer feedback.

With drives ranging from 1.5 to 600 HP (1.1 to 500 kW), the ACS 800 series features a multi-lingual, alphanumeric control panel that also provides an intelligent start-up assistant that will greatly simplify set-up, operation, and fault diagnostics. The control panel can be mounted on the cover of the drive, or remotely, and can upload, store, and download parameters.

The ACS 800 comes equipped with fifteen programmable blocks that can be assigned to anyone of twenty functions. Linking these blocks to the drive's signals, parameters and control functions provides an extremely flexible and adaptive tool to modify the drive to fit the exact application needs. Additionally, an extensive library of preprogrammed application macros that, at the touch of a button, allow rapid configuration of inputs, outputs, and parameters for specific applications to maximize convenience and minimize start-up time.

The ACS 800 can be used for the simplest application, or the most complex application. Three integral option slots can be configured with additional analog and digital inputs and outputs, encoder feedback, as well as a host of different communication bus adapters. An integral brake chopper is provided on all R2 and R3 frame size drives as standard while an integral brake chopper is an option for all other frame sizes.

The ACS 800 is available in both a Normal-Duty Rating, and a Heavy-Duty rating. The Normal-Duty Rating has a 10% short-term overload rating, and the Heavy-Duty rating has a 50% short term overload rating. With DTC, both ratings allow the motor to develop consistent, high starting torque, and are considered Constant Torque ratings.

50 ADC & 90 ADC Field Regulators

Joliet Technologies announces a new line of stand alone analog field regulators with ratings of 50 Amps DC and 90 Amps DC. Units are current regulated with use of internal CTs and accept a 0-10vdc input. Unit also features field economy, and field fault circuitry.

Common Uses:

  • Units are great for replacing Siemens 3rd generation field regulated supplies, and can be used as spares.
  • Will accommodate all traction motors (including GE 752* Traction Motors) with high field amps.

50 Amp & 90 Amp DC Field Regulators

This family of field regulators is designed to control the field current of DC motors up to 90 amps. When used in conjunction with either the Mentor II or Quantum III variable speed DC drives, the field regulator is controlled directly via the drive parameters. This allows full customization of the field control for any application. The FXMs can be also be used as stand-alone units when retrofitting existing applications.

The field regulators are single phase, controlled thyristor rectifier bridges with a control logic PC board. The bridge can be configured by jumpers to operate in half (single quadrant) or full (two quadrant) control mode.

The FXMs may be independently controlled by an external reference, or set for automatic field weakening (constant horsepower) or constant field current. Field economy control via contact or logic input and a field loss relay for protection are provided for stand-alone operation. The unit also has a bar graph display (10% increments of the selected range) for field current magnitude.
