Incremental Encoders
The CorTech® encoder line by SICK|STEGMANN is an unprecedented synthesis of custom-designed OPTO-ASIC technology with a module mechanical concept.  Customers can choose from a large variety of encoders with different mechanical interfaces, housing systems, resolutions, and electronic features.

Absolute Encoders
Absolute optical rotary encoders use a rotating disc to interrupt the light path to a photo detector, which produces an output signal, just as an incremental encoder does.  However, absolute encoders read uniquely coded tracks to generate position information.  No two adjacent positions are alike.  Therefore, absolute encoders do not lose position data when power is lost.  The position is available as soon as power is restored.

Format Adjustment Positioning Drives
The HIPERDRIVE® is an integral positioning drive, consisting of a motor, gears, an absolute measurement system, and performance and regulatory electronics which allow rapid automatic product and format changes in, for example, printing, packaging and metal-processing machines.  The advantage: greater flexibility and lower change over times reduce operating costs.
