PT878 Flow Meter
The PT878 flow meter is designed to withstand rugged use in industrial applications including water treatment and distribution, water heating and cooling, chemical processing and heavy hydrocarbon refining. The 878 utilises an acoustic signal-coding technique to make accurate measurements in flows containing gas bubbles or entrained solids.
Using clamp-on transducers the TransPort flowmeter measures flow rate through metal, plastic or even concrete lined pipes, without penetrating the pipe wall. From ultrapure water to corrosive and toxic liquids, the TransPort flowmeter assures leak-free measurement with drift-free measurement. The Transport flowmeter has no moving parts to wear or clog, and as such will never require regular maintenance.
A wide range of transducers are available with different operating frequencies, material construction, operating temperatures and sizes to meet the requirements of rugged industrial environments. To hold the clamp-on transducers with the pipe, a variety of clamping fixtures are available to accommodate different pipe transducers, pipe material and sizes. These include chain, metal strap, VELCRO® and magnetic fixtures.
The PT878 is equipped with a rubber boot that provides protection against vibration and shock. The unit is completely sealed to offer IP67 protection: the unit can withstand accidental submersion in water at one meter for one minute.
The meter can log 100,000 data points and download them to the user's PC via an optional wireless infrared connection. All logged values can be transferred to the PC via an infra-red port (PT878 only).
The meter housing weighs in at 1.36kg and is IP-67 rated. A wide range of transducers and clamping fixtures are available for sale or hire.

The entire range comes with integral dataloggers and power making deployment and maintenance extremely easy.
Troll 9500
The Troll 9500 is suitable for use on surface water, ground water interaction, estuary monitoring, saltwater intrusion, watershed and source water protection, stream restoration, beach monitoring, NPDES discharge, NPS monitoring, wastewater influent, effluent, storm water runoff, reservoir and lake monitoring, dredging operations, low-flow sampling, vertical profiling, process water and aquaculture.
Key benefits:
Easy to change batteries (2 x D –cells)
IP67 waterproof battery compartment
Twist-Lock connectors with fully detachable custom cable lengths
Up to nine field-replaceable sensors all less than 4.7 cm diameter.
Quick-Cal solutions to validate or calibrate, in less than five minutes!
As well as these impressive key benefits, the Troll 9500 proves its flexibility with USB or RS232 connections, with capability to accept SDI-12. The Troll can also be used in conjunction with a RuggedReader – an IP67-rated handheld PC, which enables the user to synchronize data.
The Troll 9500 comes in various models:
LTS (Level, Temperature and one other sensor – such as conductivity, pH, dissolve oxygen)
Profiler (Ideal for quality sampling or profiling. Designed for measurement of pH, ORP, DO, conductivity/salinity, temperature and depth. Memory is not included, but data can be logged to a RuggedReader or to a PC)
Profiler XP (This model offers the same as the Profiler, but has the added benefit of Extended Parameter sensors such as turbidity, ammonia, nitrate and chloride)
Professional (For most applications – allows for all parameters similar to the Profiler, but also includes internal data logging, ideal for recording trends over time)
Professional XP (This is the most capable Troll 9500. It is the same as the Professional model, but also includes the option to use extended parameter sensors such as turbidity, ammonium, nitrate and chloride.
Win-Situ Software:
Win-Situ is easy-to-use software with friendly guides to help the user through set up and calibration. The data can be viewed either in graph format or can be exported into Microsoft Excel. The Profiler allows the user to view real-time data and of course this can be logged to the RuggedReader or to a PC.

The TransPort PT878GC portable gas flowmeter brings clamp-on ultrasonic gas flow metering capability to the portable level. Designed for natural gas pipeline, compressed air, inert gas or any compressed gas applications, the new PT878GC has the ability to measure gas flow rates, log data to internal memory and export flow data to a PC.
For pipes 6 in (150 mm) and smaller: ?2% to 5% of reading typical; For pipes over 6 in (150 mm): ?1% to 2% of reading typical
Pipe Sizes: 20-610mm
8-hour battery life
?20? to 55?C (?4? to 131?F) temp range
The GE TransPort PT878GC flowmeter is a highly versatile, self-contained, portable transit-time system with options and accessories to meet a variety of gas flow measurement needs. Its compact size, lightweight, rechargeable battery pack, and universal power supply charger make it the ideal go-anywhere flowmeter. Historically, clamp-on flow metering was limited to liquids because existing methods could not work on metal pipes containing gases. GE Infrastructure Sensing developed new technology that extends all the benefits of clamp-on flow metering to gas measurement. This remarkable ultrasonic technology works with gases at high or low pressure in pipes made of metal and most other materials.
The TransPort PT878GC flowmeter can be used to measure the flow of any gas. It is especially useful for metering erosive, corrosive, toxic, high-purity or sterile gases, or in any application where penetrating the pipe wall is undesirable. Since no tapping or cutting of the pipe is required, permanent installation costs are significantly reduced. The meter has no wetted or moving parts, causes no pressure drop and has very wide rangeability. The new meter was tested extensively on metal pipes with diameters as small as 0.75 inches and as large as 24 inches. This meter is suitable for measuring the flow of air, hydrogen, natural gas and many other gases.
The meter can log 100,000 data points and download them to the user's PC via an optional wireless infrared connection. All logged values can be transferred to the PC via an infra-red port (PT878GC only).
The meter housing weighs in at 1.36kg and is IP67 rated. A wide range of transducers and clamping fixtures are available for sale or hire.
