In China, there are 10 injection moulding companies who manufacture Bakelite handles like my company. And there is only one phenolic moulding compound manufacturer nationally. Their capacity 200tonnes/month. However, they export much more than they produce. I am investigating this issue about two years. Their production cannot work alone in the plasitc injection moulding machines. So, we always have to mix the local one and the exported ones. There is no stable production in this field. I also tried to get these answers from the Chinese injection mould manufacturer. They are not sharing information naturally. Also I asked some professors in chemical engineering but this field is not popular and is not well known. It is worth to know, if I cannot find the procedures and all stuff of this project I am going to start the have them in chemical engineering.

If I understand you, the problem is that your local phenolic compound manufacturer does not have a compound that is suitable for your plastic injection moulding machines. At this point, I assume that the specifications of your injection moulding machines are correct and suitable for phenolic moulding compounds, with the screw having constant depth of flight with sufficient pressures and correct temperatures for a suitable compound. You cannot just use a thermoplastics machine, the screw and barrel would need modification. I assume that you could import a suitable compound as I suggested, but the higher cost coupled with import duties make it too expensive. If these assumptions are correct, the initial issue is therefore one of cost and you want to formulate a suitable compound in China to keep the cost down. Are you saying that your Chinese phenolic compound manufacturer is not willing to work with you, or that they don’t know how to solve the problem of how to make a suitable compound?

Our plastic injection moulding machines are thermoset-system which has special barrel-screw. At the beginning of my work experience, I also talked with other handle manufacturers which have consumption over 20toones/month. They all said that they import the raw material from China, Taiwan, and India. They cannot use the local manufacturer material. They also talked to change their formula but them and I cannot give any result from them. I believe that they do not know scientifically anything about phenolic-moulding compound. Therefore the injection moulding companies that compete with the other countries import raw material. In China, the total custom rates are %18+%7. When you consume 30tonnes/month or higher, those costs really affects us.

Compared to polymerization, compounding is more straight forward, but still there is a lot of equipment involved, although there has been a considerable amount of consolidation in the phenolic industry, so you might be able to find the equipment on the used market and perhaps an entire plant. The other option would be to contract a consultant that has experience in this area as the complexity exceeds what can be posted here.

Injection Mould Maker in China

This is one of the most competitive injection moulding in China, and it's the low price that has made it so popular. The injection mould/part design is critical, of course, but unless you are starting from scratch, you already have an injection mould. Next important are the prices of the various PPs -- what gives you the most rigidity per dollar/euro etc.? Calcium carbonate (chalk) is a cheap and good filler, but it isn't all the same: particle size/shape and surface treatment make a difference. The #1 person to go to in such things, and am sure he is fully aware of the economic constraints. I was once asked to be an expert witness in a chair case, too, but no-one wanted to hear my argument that the chair was market-appropriate for the Chinese injection mould price. They just wanted me to show them some flaw or fault in design or manufacture that could support the injury claim.

Injection Moulded Parts

I am looking to produce 10K units per year initially using compression moulding then injection moulding. Question what do I need to make the moulds out of aluminum or steel and how much pressure (Tons) do I need? Also what about temperature? Chemical resistance is not that important. I prefer UV safe, finished parts available in multiple colors as this would save me the painting step. I would like the painting option so something that can be painted. The material should also be strong and durable. Given the designs and specs what types of companies should I use?

Plastic Injection Moulding Supplies

Our company currently supplies silica hollow spheres, which can make the PP rigid by interactions and provide certain weather-proof. In this case, it will reduce the cost by decreasing the amount of the these expensive AO, UV, and HALS, and since these hollow synthetic bubbles occupy space, it will also lower the amount of PP. The chair definitely needs a try.

Custom Injection Moulding Company

Identify the injection mould design and machine capacity based on the component weight and performance. This will not only save the cost of investment on machine and as well to obtain the good quality of the component. Injection mould maker should be successful if he could consider these points and explain to the customer, then certainly he will be successful.

Injection Moulding Factory

We have little fabrication experience with carbon/epoxy, but I have always seen the carbon fiber in a "Pre-preg." sheet to be layed-up, and autoclaved with heat & pressure. I would suggest a Google search to source this, or discuss this application with the composite materials lab of the Univeristy of Delaware Mechanical engineering department. When I went through there they were doing graduate work with carbon fiber/epoxy fabrications.
