A valve is a device that regulates the flow of a fluid by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways. A pressure regulator is a valve that automatically cut-off, interfere, or release the flow of a fluid at a certain pressure in order to stop, redirect, or maintain the flow. The regulator often serves as a safety mechanism in the tubing system.
There are hundreds of different types of valves used in many industries that require tubing/piping in the systems. Some basic types of valves include Ball valve, Butterfly valve, Ceramic Disc valve, Check valve or non-return valve, Choke valve, Diaphragm valve, Gate valve, Globe valve, Knife valve, Needle valve, Pinch valve, Piston valve, Plug valve, Poppet valve, Spool valve, and Thermal expansion valve. Valves may also be classified by how they are actuated: Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Manual, Solenoid, and Motor.
