A heater is a device that converts input energy, usually electricity, natural gas, or oil, and emits heat. Heaters are very common appliances to generate heating in a household or domestic setting. Many manufacturing processes require high temperature for curing, packaging, bonding, and surface treatments. A heater is essential to these processes.
Most heating elements use Nichrome 80/20 (80% nickel, 20% chromium) wire, ribbon, or strip. Nichrome 80/20 is widely employed, because it has relatively high resistance and forms an adherent layer of chromium oxide protecting its interior from oxidization upon the first heat-up.
