I remember reading somewhere that one of the defining characterisitics of stainless steel is its high chromium content (more than 10 or 11% if I recall correctly). Now I have come across this website about chromium steel and I was wondering... isn't it the same?
Does it have anything to do with the nickel content? I don't think that stainless steels have to contain any nickel but now I'm not so sure... I don't think the 400 series has any nickel, right? I hope I'm not mistaken!
I'm just confused. Is chromium steel = stainless steel?
Or is it some case of "not all fingers are thumbs but the thumb is a finger"? :D
