I am looking for an equation that would allow me to calculate the resultant force of a screw. The specific scenario is for an o-ring sealed box containing about a dozen screws used for the compression of the o-ring. I have been trying to use the equations given in the Machinery's handbook, however the resultant numbers do not make sense. In particular I am trying to calculate the forces exerted from 4-40, 2-56 and 1-72 socket head cap screws. If someone knows of or has the proper equations I would certainly appreciate you sharing them with me
