I need to design a plastic journal bearing for a food processing application.  The bearing will be made from UHMW-PE.  I found the material properties here at eFunda but I realize there is more to consider.  For instance, I want the bearing to be a flanged sleeve bearing that will be pressed into a holder.  How do I:

- determine the proper clearance for the bearing/journal

- the correct amount of interference between the bearing and the housing

-and how do I predict the reduction in I.D. of the bearing once it is pressed into the housing

I was hoping to find an on-line guide to designing plastic, pressed-in, journal bearings.  I feel sure there must be some type of engineering guide to designing plastic journal bearings.
