Die Casting questions

They're certainly similar processes.  Yet die casting of metals takes place at higher temperatures, and possibly higher pressures (not sure of that offhand).  The die steels used are hardened by heat treating, and have to resist heat checking, so steels like H13 are common.  Those will be somewhat more expensive than the steels used in plastic molding.

 

But yeah, they're quite similar, and your experience will prove applicable.  Good luck!
