collision problem...
Pls help me with this:
A constant velocity mass moves in a straight line and bumps into a stationary rod fixed at the lower end(upper end free). This rod then deflects. My qn is: HOw do I find the force that the rod experiences due to the collision? And its deflection?

The objective is to find a particular diameter for the rod such that deflection is minimal/negligible.
