thanks so much, this is more help than i could have expected.  The numbers are really going to save me some time- for some reason I couldn't find the temperature limits.  I really appreciate your time.  you're right that titanium and ceramics are the best bet, but they're costly and difficult to come by.  luckily this is not a long-term application but unsprung weight is key.
