Current Topic:
only bad attitude causes economic loss in peaceful use of atomic power plants
I had an interesting discussion today with our quality engineer.  He has worked for over 20 years in nuclear plant systems design and analysis.  We both came to the same conclusion about the technology of nuclear power: we'd rather live next to a nuke plant than a fossil fuel plant (including natural gas).

Still, we both agreed that human shortcomings are what makes nuclear power dangerous.  Willingness to cut corners for profit and public misinformation are the biggest factors.  Also, local agencies tend to get overpanicked and spread this attitude to the citizenry.
