Questions regarding maximum yield stress for standard hardened steel dowel pins

Single shear strength is 130,000 psi.

here is the solution

your pin area shall be  a value the divide the force aplied to be less than  130,000 PSI by safety factor

so  so if the pin has 1 Suare inch it will break when you apply a force bigger than 130,000 Pounds , or is the safety factor is 0,5 it will support up to 65,000.

Hope you understand it

you shall comply wit this ecuation

[LOAD divided by  AREA]   shall be less than  [single shear strenght by safety factor]  [ 0.5 to 0.3]
