TRACYLAM:  A high "Q" value is on the order of 10 or over.  Your 17.4 means that the end of the beam, or wherever you measured it, is moving 17.4 times the input displacment.  if the input is, say 1inch, then the end is moving 17.4 inches.  What are the beam dimensions, Where are the feedback accelerometer and other accelerometers located?  What is the resonant frequency of the beam?  Can you post a picture?
