Dave,

The dimension of the beam is 2(in) x 1(in) x 0.03 (in) [length x width x thickness].

I haven't used accelerometers in the experiment.  I measured the Q factor by using a laser vibrometer. By using the laser vibrometer, I can know the velocity at the tip (i.e. free end) and base (i.e. clamped end) of the beam. The Q factor is calculated by the ratio of the velocity at the free end to that at the clamped end of the beam. The resonant frequency of the beam is at 170 Hz.
