Resonance

Thanks a lot.

By the way, I would like to know that: is it possible to estimate the Q factor of a clamped-free beam at its fundamental resonance by formula? I have only learnt the experimental method of finding Q factor by the ratio of the velocity at the clamped end and the free end of the beam.

I have also learnt how the fundamental mode shape is. Indeed, the mode shape have described the shape of beam but it didn't tell the exact displacement at the free end. Thus, the Q factor is important in this aspect. I can only found reference books that founding the Q factor in experimental method. I wonder if it is possible to calculate the Q factor or not. Do you have any experiences on estimating Q factor by equation/formula? Thanks.

 Regards,

Tracy
