Thanks for the link.

The basic condition is that the surface area of the torispherical head is 1.69 times the surface area of a flat dish that can be fixed at the end; or it can also be said that the surface area of the torispherical head is 1.69 times the cross-sectional area of the shell(which includes the thickness).

So, the dimensions of the end are to be calculated from its surface area.
