Attenuation in Transient


1- Assume a pipe which is closed from both sides rapidly and simultanously. Then a transient occurs along the pipeline. Could you describe Attenuation phenomenon in this case? lt is my thought about it:

When compression and expansion (in this situation) occurs, it (compression and expansion) makes a flow throughout the pipe. This flow is internal and in thesystem, since both sides of pipe are closed. this flow has friction and it makes attenuation. Am I right?
