multi point fuel injection
Fuel injection is better than carburettion because it uses a closed loop control system to control the amount of fuel being injected into the air stream.  This allows the engine to run at the correct air fuel mixture for minimising emmissions and fuel consumption.

I don't think fuel injection improves performance or throttle responce.  Motorcycle manufacturers still use carburettors exclusively and they make some very high performance motors.
