How to design an automated system to measure flow rate of a gas
(bubble ) ..and thus able to calliberate the mass flow controller.
Thanx for ur reply. I have thougt of a mechanism,it will be nice if u could have a look and elaborate on it completely
as in if it is feasable or not and any minute/major details which is required for it.
We are passing gas thru a burette which is mounted vertically, at the top and bottom (at specific volumes) there is a light source emmiting a narrow stream which falls on burette perpendicular to its axis. Passing thru burette the light falls on photodiode which in turn is connected to a timer- which automatically switches off after one bubble passes thru,the bubble is introduce in the gas by placing a soap
flim/solution on the gas outlet.
The bubble when passing thru the path of the lower light source, interrupts the light stream and thus the stream is deviated and it doesn't fall on the photo diode, at this stage we want timer to start and simillary stop when the bubble passes thru the path of upper light source. Since we know the volume gas has traversed and the time via time piece, we can know the flow rate.
THIS IS JUST AN IMAGINATIVE SETUP- WHICH WE STUDENTS HAVE JUST THOUGHT OF WITH SOME MINOR KNOWLEDGE OF PHYSICS.
WE DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH CORRECT WE ARE AND EVEN THE DETAILS OF PRINCIPLE EACH PART IN OUR SETUP FOLLOWS.
It will be kind of u to tell us all the details/principle/physics of each appratus which are employing as in: wether it is possible to have only one bubble in the tube for one measurement,is the light stream gets appreciably deviated by the bubble so that it doesn't fall on photodioade nad the timer mechanism is started somehow, how will
the timer mechanism work, the photodiode specification, the soap solution specification.
AND above all if this mechanism is at all feasable or not.
