Current Topic:
Fundamentals of Microalloyed Steel Forge Processing
Hi,

Dr. Funda is not an expert in metallurgy and does not want to pretend to be one. The forging process of these microalloyed steels (sometimes called High-Strength Low-Alloy steels) requires accurate temperature control and controlled-rate cooling. Air cooling is generally good, though. The following book has more details:

Steel Sheet and Steel Bar Products and Processing for Automotive Applications

ISBN Number: 0-7680-0169-2

You can find this book in SAE's website:

http://www.sae.org/products/books/SP-1349.htm

Also, if anybody knows more about this subject, please jump in and help us out. Dr. Funda needs to learn a thing or two from time to time...
