Current Topic:
Nanomaterials and steels
Sir,
I know a little about nanomaterials.
If i try to reduce grain size of a steel by rapid quenching to nano size, won't it devlop cracks?
Because by simply quenching a steel there are chances of being thermal expansion due to increase in specific volume change in martensite, then to get grain size in nano meter level it is very difficult to quench (That's what i feel).
I would like someone to have discussion with me on this topic.
And by using what quenching media can i get nano grains in steel.
(I want it only by quenching and not by any other technoque)

regards
