Glossary » Design » Oring » Material » Cast Polyurethane
Cast Polyurethane exhibits outstanding tensile strength and abrasion resistance in comparison with other elastomers. It is used predominantly in high hydraulic pressure applications and situations where highly stressed parts are subject to wear. It is not suitable for high temperature applications. Cast Polyurethane is suitable for dynamic and static seal of o-rings in the environment containing the following chemicals: Glacial Acetic Acid, Ammonium Phosphate, Bleach Liquor, Cyclohexane, Ethyl Alcohol, Ethylene Glycol, Freon 112, Automotive Gasoline, Hexane, Hydrochloric Acid, Kerosene, Methyl Alcohol, MIL-H-5606, Mineral Oils, Naphtha, Petroleum Oil.
O-Ring material Cast Polyurethane is usually suitable for static seal in the environment containing ASTM Oil One, ASTM Oil Three, Butyl Cellosolve, Iso Octane, Skydrol 500. O-Ring material Cast Polyurethane is sometimes ok for static seal but not for dynamic seal in the environment containing chemicals such as Amyl Alcohol, Benzene, Carbonic Acid. Cast Polyurethane is not suitable for o-rings exposed in the environment containing chemicals such as Acetone, Brake Fluid, Butyraldehyde, Ethyl Acetoacetate, Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Steam to 350F. Additional Information
There is not enough data to determine whether Cast Polyurethane is suitable for using in the environment containing the following chemicals or not.
