Epichlorohydrin (ECO) has properties similar to nitrile rubber but with better heat and oil resistance as well as better low temperature flexibility. However, Epichlorohydrin has poor compression which limits its use as a sealing material. Its corrosive effect on metals can increase tooling costs and limit metal bonding applications. Typical uses are in automotive fuel systems, bladders, diaphragms and rollers. Epichlorohydrin is suitable for dynamic and static seal of o-rings in the environment containing the following chemicals: Acetaldehyde, Aluminium Chloride, Aluminium Flouride, Aluminium Nitrate, Ammonium Chloride, Ammonium Nitrate, Ammonium Phosphate, Amyl Alcohol, Amyl Borate, Animal Oil, ASTM Fuel A, ASTM Fuel B, Beer, Boric Acid, Butane, Butter, Calcium Chloride, Calcium Hydroxide, Calcium Nitrate, Carbonic Acid, Castor Oil, Citric Acid, Corn Oil, Denatured Alcohol, Diesel Oil, Diethylamine Glycol, Ethanol, Ethyl Alcohol, Ethyl Diamine, Ethyl Silicate, Ethylene Glycol, Freon 113, Freon 114, Freon 13, Freon 22, Freon TF, Fuel Oil, Automotive Gasoline, Gelatine, Glucose, Glycerin, General Glycol, Hexane, Petroleum Base Hydraulic Oil, Isopropanol, JP 3 MIL-J5624, JP 4 MIL-J5624, JP 5 MIL-J5624, JP 6 MIL-J5624, Kerosene, Animal Fat Lard, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Petroleum Base Lubricating Oils, Mercuric Chloride, Mercury, Methane, MIL-F-25558 (RJ-1), JP-5 JP-4 JP-3 MIL-J 5624, MIL-R-25576 (RP-1), Mineral Oils, Naphtha, Natural Gas, N-Hexaldehyde, Gas Nitrogen, Oleic Acid, Peanut Oil, Petroleum Oil, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Propane, Propanol, Propyl Alcohol, Rapeseed Oil, Red Oil, RJ-1 (MIL-F-25558), RP-1 (MIL-R-25576), Silicone Grease, Silicone Oils, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Soyabean Oil, Stoddard Solvent, Sulfur Hexafluoride, Type A Transmission Fluid, Turbine Oil, Turpentine.
O-Ring material Epichlorohydrin is usually suitable for static seal in the environment containing Acetylene Gas, Aluminium Acetate, Ammonium Carbonate, Concentrated Ammonium Hydroxide, Calcium Hypochlorite, Calcium Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Tetrachloride, Dry Chlorine, Wet Chlorine, Dibutyl Phthalate, Ethyl Acetoacetate, Ethyl Chloride, Ethyl Ether, Formaldehyde, Freon 21, Hydrogen Peroxide, Lye, Cold Oxygen, Stearic Acid, Tannic Acid, Tartaric Acid, VV-H-910, Fresh Water. O-Ring material Epichlorohydrin is sometimes ok for static seal but not for dynamic seal in the environment containing chemicals such as Carbolic Acid (Phenol), Ethyl Pentachlorobenzene, Oxalic Acid, Phenol. Epichlorohydrin is not suitable for o-rings exposed in the environment containing chemicals such as Glacial Acetic Acid, Acetic Anhydride, Acetone, Acetophenone, Acetyl Chloride, Alkazene, Amyl Acetate, ASTM Oil One, Benzaldehyde, Benzene, Benzyl Alcohol, Brake Fluid, Bromobenzene, Butadiene Monomer, Chlorine Trifluoride, Coal Tar Creosote, Diacetone Alcohol, Dibenzyl Ether, Ethyl Benzene, Ethyl Formate, Ethyl Mercaptan, Ethyl Oxalate, Ethylene Dichloride, Ethylene Oxide, Furfural, Hydrochloric Acid, Iso Octane, Lacquer Solvents, Lacquers, Methyl Acetate, Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK), Nitric Acid, Nitrobenzene, Oleum (Fuming Sulfuric Acid), 200-400F Oxygen, Propyl Acetate, 10E Pydraul, 540C 312F 230C Pydraul, 90E 65E 50E 30E Pydraul, Transformer Oil Pyranol, Silver Nitrate, Skydrol 500, Sulfuric Acid (Concentrated), Xylene.
