Molding Compound PA is a subcategory of Polyamide. It is specially formulated to molding compound. Its elastic modulus ranges from 218 to 290 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 240 to 334 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 6500 to 8800 MPa at break. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1 to 1.9 J/cm. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.06 to 1.1. Its melting temperature ranges from 195 to 219 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 1 to 15 MPa.
Polyamide, also known as PA, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. Common trade names are Ultramid and Zytel. nylon (PA 612) It has high lubricity and moderate strength. It is tough, inexpensive, but has poor dimensional stability due to water absorption (hygroscopic nature). PA is commonly used to make high-lubricity parts such as bearings, blow moldings molds, and clothing fabrics.
