40-45% Mineral Filled PA is a subcategory of Polyamide. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its flexural modulus ranges from 900 to 1050 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 15500 to 22000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.9 to 1.4 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 5 to 10 %. Its hardness ranges from 106 to 121 Rockwell R. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.39 to 1.5. Its melting temperature ranges from 250 to 265 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 20 MPa.
Polyamide, also known as PA, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. Common trade names are Ultramid and Zytel. nylon (PA 66) It has high lubricity and moderate strength. It is tough, inexpensive, but has poor dimensional stability due to water absorption (hygroscopic nature). PA is commonly used to make high-lubricity parts such as bearings, blow moldings molds, and clothing fabrics.
