Unreinforced, Toughened PA is a subcategory of Polyamide. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its flexural modulus ranges from 225 to 380 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 7000 to 11000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 8500 to 14500 MPa. Its elongation at break ranges from 4 to 200 %. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.06 to 1.11. Its melting temperature ranges from 240 to 265 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 1 to 20 MPa.
Polyamide, also known as PA, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. Common trade names are Ultramid and Zytel. nylon (PA 66) It has high lubricity and moderate strength. It is tough, inexpensive, but has poor dimensional stability due to water absorption (hygroscopic nature). PA is commonly used to make high-lubricity parts such as bearings, blow moldings molds, and clothing fabrics.
