RIM Solid, Unfilled PDCP is a subcategory of Polydicyclopentadiene. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 240 to 280 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 260 to 280 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 5300 to 6000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 10000 to 11000 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 8500 to 9000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 5 to 9 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 5 to 70 %. Its hardness ranges from 72 to 84 Shore D. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.03 to 1.04. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 83 to 88 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 90 to 165 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 0.02 to 0.05 MPa.
Polydicyclopentadiene, also known as PDCP, is a thermoset. Common trade names include Telene, Metton, and Pentam . It is high in impact resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and it has a high heat deflection temperature (or HDT, the temperature at which a polymer or plastic sample deforms under a specified load). PDCP can be found in body panels for tractors, construction equipment, trucks and buses.
