Rigid Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. It is specially formulated to rigid. Its elastic modulus ranges from 300 to 640 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 490 to 610 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 600 to 13000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 8500 to 23000 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 13000 to 30000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.2 to 0.4 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 1 to 2.6 %. Its hardness ranges from 35 to 75 . Its specific gravity ranges from 1.04 to 1.46. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 55 to 100 x 10-6/°C.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. cast It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
