35% Glass Fiber and Mica Reinforced Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its flexural modulus ranges from 1200 to 1600 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 11400 to 13800 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 18000 to 22000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.7 to 1.8 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 2 to 3 %. Its hardness ranges from 50 to 76 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.59 to 1.74. Its melting temperature ranges from 220 to 224 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 9 to 15 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(butylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
