35% Glass Fiber Reinforced Flame-Retardant Grade Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 1490 to 1700 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 1300 to 1500 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 17400 to 20000 MPa at break. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.3 to 1.6 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 2 to 3 %. Its hardness ranges from 88 to 90 Rockwell M. Its melting temperature ranges from 220 to 260 °C.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(butylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
