Unfilled Medium Melting Point Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 1400 to 2800 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 1770 to 2700 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 15900 to 27000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 19000 to 35500 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 6200 to 19000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.7 to 10 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 1.3 to 4.5 %. Its hardness ranges from 60 to 66 Rockwell R. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.35 to 1.84. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 5 to 7 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 280 to 421 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 1 to 16 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. wholly aromatic (liquid crystal) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
