40% Glass Fiber Reinforced PPS is a subcategory of Polyphenylene Sulfide. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 1100 to 2100 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 1700 to 2160 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 17500 to 29100 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 22700 to 43600 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 21000 to 31200 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.1 to 2 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 0.9 to 4 %. Its hardness ranges from 100 to 104 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.6 to 1.67. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 12.1 to 22 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 88 to 90 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 20 MPa.
Polyphenylene Sulfide, also known as PPS, is a thermoplastic polycondensate. The most common trade name is Ryton. It has high temperature resistance (230 ºC continuous), low temperature endurance, good chemical resistance, and flame retardance. PPS can be used to make high performance electrical connectors and other high stress parts.
