Rubber-Modified Flame-Retardant, UL-V0 PS is a subcategory of Polystyrene. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 240 to 300 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 280 to 330 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 2650 to 4100 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 4500 to 7500 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.9 to 3.3 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 30 to 50 %. Its hardness ranges from 38 to 65 Rockwell R. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.15 to 1.17. Its molding pressure ranges from 6 to 15 MPa.
Polystyrene, also known as PS, is a thermoplastic polymer. The most common trade name is Novacor 555. It is an inexpensive material that is not structurally strong but easy to mold. It machines well, and is highly transparent. PS is commonly used for inexpensive packaging materials, pens, safety razors, flatware, and CD jewel boxes. In Styrofoam forms, PS is used to make high-throughput, thin-walled, easy-to-mold parts where structure is not paramount.
