Rapid Prototyping is the quick and automatic construction of three-dimensional objects.

Rapid Prototyping are capable of increasing effective communication, decreasing development time, decreasing costly mistakes, minimizing sustaining engineering changes, and extending product lifetime by adding necessary features and eliminating redundant features early in the design.

Common commercially available Rapid Prototyping techniques include Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS®), Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM?), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Solid Ground Curing (SGC), and Ink Jet printing techniques.
