Below is illustrated the configuration of a standard endmill fixtured in a knee-type milling machine using a collet.

 


 
Horizontal Collet Fixture
A collet can also be fixtured horizontally as shown below. This configuration allows flats to be cut at specified angles on a cylindrical part.
