Common shelving and racking systems include cantilever, gravity, flow, pallet, drive-in, reel, pick, multi-tier and horizontal bar shelves and racks. Most industrial shelving and racking system are made of steels for its strength and lower cost. Low carbon steel, cast iron, and stainless steel are all very common. Some computer, communication, and high unit price items may use aluminum alloys for shelving and racking. Plastic shelves and racks are also available for its light weight and lower cost.
