Glossary » Design » Oring » Material » Ethylene-Propylene

Ethylene-Propylene (EP) is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene. It has good to excellent in heat, oxidation, ozone and weather aging resistance. It has good electrical resistivity, as well as resistance to polar solvents, such as water, acids, alkalies, phosphate esters and many ketones and alcohols. Its resistance to acids and chlorines are less than ideal.

Ethylene-Propylene is suitable for dynamic and static seal of o-rings in the environment containing the following chemicals: Acetamide, Glacial Acetic Acid, Acetic Anhydride, Acetone, Acetophenone, Acetylene Gas, Aluminium Acetate, Aluminium Chloride, Aluminium Flouride, Aluminium Nitrate, Aluminium Sulfate, Anhydrous Ammonia, Cold Gas Ammonia, Ammonium Carbonate, Ammonium Chloride, Ammonium Nitrate, Ammonium Phosphate, Ammonium Sulfate, Amyl Acetate, Amyl Alcohol, Aniline, Animal Oil, Argon, ASTM Oil One, Automotive Brake Fluid, Beer, Benzaldehyde, Bleach Liquor, Borax Solutions, Boric Acid, Brake Fluid, Butter, Butyl Carbitol, Butyl Cellosolve, Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Chloride, Calcium Hydroxide, Calcium Hypochlorite, Calcium Nitrate, Calcium Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide, Carbonic Acid, Citric Acid, Cod Liver Oil, Coffee, Denatured Alcohol, Diacetone, Diacetone Alcohol, Dibutyl Phthalate, Diethylamine Glycol, Dow Corning 550, Dow Guard, Epoxy Resins, Ethanol, Ethyl Alcohol, Ethyl Chloride, Ethyl Diamine, Ethyl Hexanol, Ethyl Silicate, Ethylene Glycol, Formaldehyde, Freon 13, Freon 22, Freon 31, Freon 32, Freon 502 (F22+F316), Freon C318, Gelatine, Glucose, Glycerin, General Glycol, Helium, Hydrazine, Gas Hydrobromic Acid, Hydrocyanic Acid, Hydrogen Gas, Iso Octane, Isobutyl Alcohol, Isopropanol, Hydraulic Fluid (Phosphate Ester Type) Lindol, Lye, Mercuric Chloride, Mercury, Methanol, Methyl Alcohol, Methyl Butyl Ketone, Methyl Ether, Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Methyl Mercaptan, MIL-H-7083, Milk, MIL-L-25681, MIL-S-81087, Nitrobenzene, Gas Nitrogen, Oxalic Acid, Cold Oxygen, Ozone, Phosphoric Acid, Phosphoric Trichloride, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Propanol, Propyl Alcohol, 55 (Phosphate Ester) 53 43 Pyrogard 42, Rapeseed Oil, Sea Water, Silicone Grease, Silicone Oils, Silver Nitrate, Skydrol 500, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Steam to 350F, Sucrose Solutions, Dry Sulfur Dioxide Gas, Wet Sulfur Dioxide Gas, Liquefied Under Pressure Sulfur Dioxide, Sulfur Hexafluoride, Sulfurous Acid, Tannic Acid, Tetrabutyl Titanate, Triethanolamine, Vinegar, VV-H-910, Wagner 21B Brake Fluid, Fresh Water, Whiskey.
