Glossary » Design » Oring » Material » Styrene Butadiene

Styrene Butadiene rubber (SBR) has properties similar to those of natural rubber. Styrene-Butadiene has good abrasion resistance and high tensile strength. It exhibits good resistance to water but poor to petroleum oils and solvents. Its weather resistance is less than ideal.

Styrene Butadiene is suitable for dynamic and static seal of o-rings in the environment containing the following chemicals: Aluminium Chloride, Aluminium Flouride, Aluminium Nitrate, Cold Gas Ammonia, Ammonium Carbonate, Ammonium Chloride, Ammonium Nitrate, Ammonium Phosphate, Automotive Brake Fluid, Beer, Boric Acid, Brake Fluid, Butyl Alcohol, Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Chloride, Calcium Hydroxide, Calcium Hypochlorite, Castor Oil, Citric Acid, Coffee, Denatured Alcohol, Diethylamine Glycol, Dow Corning 550, Dow Guard, Ethanol, Ethyl Acetoacetate, Ethyl Alcohol, Ethyl Hexanol, Ethylene Glycol, Freon 114, Freon 12, Freon 13, Freon 22, Freon 32, Freon 502 (F22+F316), Freon C318, Gelatine, Glucose, Glycerin, General Glycol, Helium, Hexyl Alcohol, Hydrobromic Acid, Hydrogen Peroxide, Iso Octane, Isobutyl Alcohol, Isopropanol, Mercuric Chloride, Mercury, Methyl Ether, Milk, MIL-S-81087, Gas Nitrogen, Oxalic Acid, Potassium Nitrate, Propanol, Propyl Alcohol, Sea Water, Silicone Grease, Silicone Oils, Silver Nitrate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Stearic Acid, Sucrose Solutions, Tetrabromoethane, VV-H-910, Wagner 21B Brake Fluid, Whiskey.
