Unfilled Casting Resins and Compounds Epoxy is a subcategory of Epoxy. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its tensile strength ranges from 4000 to 13000 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 13000 to 21000 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 15000 to 25000 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.2 to 1 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 3 to 6 %. Its hardness ranges from 80 to 110 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.11 to 1.4. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 45 to 65 x 10-6/°C.
Epoxy is a thermoset polyadduct. Common trade names include Acme, Aerolam, Basoset, Beckopx, Conapoxy, Corlar, Cycom, DER, Desmobond, Dobeckot, Dynopon, Ecco, Epikote, Epocast, Epodite, Eprosin, Eurepox, Exatron, Grilonit, Hysol, Isochembond, Lekutherm, Lopox, Nikalet, Paraplex, Quartrex, Scotchcast, and Synthane. Epoxy possesses many useful properties: air curable, highly fillable, low shrinkage, low susceptibility to stress formation, good adhesion to almost all materials, high tensile and vibrational strength, high heat resistance, high heat deformation resistance, high chemical attack resistance, good aging properties, good electrical and dielectrical properties, odorless, tasteless, and low flammability. Epoxy is commonly used in adhesives and reactive molding compounds. Epoxy is a copolymer, which means it is formed from two different chemicals, usually referred to as the "resin" and the "hardener". Epoxy-based materials can be used for coatings, adhesives, composite materials, mold making, and electrical insulators. When working with epoxy, vinegar is an effective and safe solvent for cleaning epoxy resins from tools, brushes, skin, and most surfaces.
Other common Epoxy include Glass Fiber Reinforced Molding Compounds Epoxy, Mineral Filled Molding Compounds Epoxy, Glass Sphere Filled Molding Compounds Epoxy, Glass Fiber Reinforced Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) Epoxy, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) Epoxy, Mineral and Glass Filled Novolak Molding Compounds, Encapsulation Epoxy, Mineral and Glass Filled Novolak Molding Compounds, High Temperature Epoxy, Silica Filled Casting Resins and Compounds Epoxy, Aluminum Filled Casting Resins and Compounds Epoxy, Flexibilized Casting Resins and Compounds Epoxy, and Casting Resins and Compounds Epoxy.
