UV Stabilized Acetal is a subcategory of Polyacetal. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 400 to 450 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 130 to 135 MPa. Its flexural strength ranges from 14100 to 14300 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 1.5 to 2.3 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 40 to 75 %.
Polyacetal, also known as Acetal, is a thermoplastic. Common trade names are Delrin and Ultraform. homopolymer It is a lubricious, strong, and resistant to creep and fatigue. It has good dimensional stability and relatively high abrasion and chemical resistance. Acetal is commonly used in quality toy parts, handles, knobs, and bearing parts. Delrin is approved by FDA for use in the food industry. Acetal resins were commonly used in the plumbing industry. However, they are sensitive to chlorine which leads to cracks in acetal plumbing fittings. The widespread failure of acetal moldings in potable and hot water supplies resulted in one of the largest class actions in the USA when acetal plumbing fittings cracked and caused floods of many homes in many states.
Additional Information
Other common Polyacetal (Acetal) include Acetal, Acetal, Impact Modified Acetal, Impact Modified Acetal, Mineral Filled Acetal, Extrusion and Blow Molding Grade Acetal, 2% Silicone Low Wear Acetal, UV Stabilized Acetal, 20% Glass Reinforced Acetal, 25% Glass Coupled Acetal, 40% Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Acetal, 21% PTFE Filled Acetal, 2 - 20% PTFE Filled Acetal, 1.5% PTFE Filled Acetal, Chemically Lubricated Acetal, UV Stabilized, 20% Glass Filled Acetal, Extrusion Grade Acetal, 30% Carbon Fiber EMI Shielding (conductive) Acetal, and 10% PAN Carbon Fiber, 10% PTFE Filled EMI Shielding (conductive) Acetal.
