30% Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added by weight during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 1300 to 1450 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 850 to 1200 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 14000 to 19500 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 22000 to 29000 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 18000 to 23500 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.9 to 2 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 2 to 4 %. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.48 to 1.54. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 15 to 25 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 220 to 267 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 5 to 15 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(butylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
