Unfilled Polyester is a subcategory of Polyester. The additative is added during the manufacturing process. Its elastic modulus ranges from 280 to 435 MPa. Its flexural modulus ranges from 330 to 400 MPa. Its tensile strength ranges from 8200 to 8700 MPa at break. Its flexural strength ranges from 12000 to 16700 MPa. Its compressive strength ranges from 8600 to 14500 MPa. Its Izod Impact strength ranges from 0.7 to 1 J/cm. Its elongation at break ranges from 50 to 300 %. Its hardness ranges from 68 to 78 Rockwell M. Its specific gravity ranges from 1.3 to 1.38. Its coefficient of thermal expansion ranges from 60 to 95 x 10-6/°C. Its melting temperature ranges from 220 to 267 °C. Its molding pressure ranges from 4 to 10 MPa.
Polyester is a thermoplastic or thermoset polycondensate. Common trade names are Valox and Celanex. poly(butylene-terephthalate) It has excellent dimensional stability, high dielectric strength, and good toughness. It has moderate chemical resistance, low resistance to strong acids and bases, and is notch sensitive. However, it is not recommended for outdoor use or in hot water. Polyester is very popular in making clothing and handles.
